Working on my package of child sexual predators was an experience to say the least. On numerous occasions I was stopped by the police because of filming schools and children. Besides that, the information I gained from my interviews were more than insightful and eye opening. Sgt. Norville really put in perspective the threats that children face via the internet by sexual predators.
At the beginning of the week I didn't really know what route I wanted to take but with the high participation in social media by all ages it seemed like bringing to light the problems with internet problems would be a way for parents to take that first step in having effective communication with their children to prevent such a thing from occurring.
I learned that all child sexual offenders must register and have to be watched closely by law personnel once released from their sentence. This really allowed me to grasp how important it is to be aware of people in our neighborhoods as well as who we communicate with on the internet. All in all, it was a great experience and the statistics were by far shocking but a part of the harsh reality children face everyday.
